Thingyan II was photographed by Jonathan Sage in Burma in 2014. It was featured in the photographic exhibition Urban Habitat (2019, Munich).
“During the Burmese New Year, called Thingyan, the Burmese government relaxes restrictions on gatherings and water is drowsed over one another during this 5-day long holiday. Traditionally, the sprinkling of water was intended to metaphorically"wash away" one's sins of the previous year. The moment captured in this image shows the youth of Yangon enjoying the festivities”. - Jonathan Sage
